EECU Clovis West Branch
A partnership between EECU and Clovis Unified School District
EECU opened a full-service branch and ATM on the Clovis West High School campus in 2016. The Clovis West branch is a partnership between EECU and Clovis Unified School District.
The branch is staffed by EECU employees and approximately 30 Clovis Unified School District students who are participating in the district’s Career & Technical Education (CTE) pathway in banking. The CTE program provides the students with an opportunity to join the EECU team as a volunteer and earn credit toward graduation.
The students who work in the branch assist members with deposits, withdrawals, and other financial transactions, and provide general information about the credit union’s products and services. They commit to work in the branch for two class periods during the school day and one lunch and one after-school shift per week. In August of each year a new team of students is trained to work in the branch.
In addition to gaining work experience, the students also take a personal banking class and learn money management skills, how to create a budget, credit score basics, how to save for retirement, and much more.
Our goal is for the students to enhance their financial literacy and gain practical work experience, which will help to prepare them for college and their future careers.
